The man was a disgrace. He had done something he should not have, something that so left tarnish on the name Aleona. He may be a man, but he was a high born fae, a dark fae at that, and such a thing was not to be done. How could he have taken up with a woman of that nature, someone so bad for the image and security of their people? There was even a child, an ugly girl who was all scales and darkness, and he sought to claim it as his blood. They couldn't turn the infant away, no, not while he was the last viable breeder of his family line, but they had no desire to accept her either. She was unnatural looking, unwelcome, and if she were to ever come here it would be when she was of an age to fight for her place, when she finally had the ability to prove she was worth the attention. No sooner than that.

In this manner, Kemarin Aleona proved he was no fool.

He was an idiot to have done such a stupid thing, to have taken a demoness as a lover, even for such a short time, he was more than aware that she was not a proper wife, there was no manner in which this could be doubted. The demons had no concept of tradition, of the place in which a woman and a man should have in accordance to each other. It was wrong for a woman to seek a man to subject her, to dominate her in any way, especially when it came to something so base and private as the choosing of who would father children. Strength was good and well, but it wasn't to be used in such a way, it was for protection from the outside, not dominance from within. The demons, however, thrived on such things, and they, while not being enemies, were not allies and likely would they never take such a place. That Kemarin had found himself such a relationship said many ill things about his character indeed, and it would cast a shadow over his dealings for many years from this day.

Yet, beyond it all, he still proved he was not a fool. He brought his daughter before them, a proper heir, and presented her as though she were a full-blooded child of her line. She was not, of course, as she should be, but it was a move of wisdom to secure her even when her reception would be ill. Had he not, there might have been a chance to deny her, but to name one their child is to make a promise, and it is, without any argument, a legacy that would not be denied to the rightful heirs. Even half-blooded girls were still enough to take a place in the ranks, and thus she was given her rightful name. And as it stood, her mother having no second name to give her, so was it that she shared her father's. There was outrage, distrust, and an angry betrothed to quell, but in the end the girl was put in her father's family scroll.

Reeadione Aleona, half demon heir to the Aleona house, was transcribed within the library of the High Dark Fae. It had left a sour taste to do the rites, but still they were done. A woman may not be denied her rights, but this girl would also not be made aware of them if at all possible for it to be avoided. She was not a true High Dark Fae, and their hopes for that family lay in a promise that Kemarin would marry a real wife. It had long ago been put in motion, and a child of another woman, especially as she was not of the blood, would not prevent it from being so. They would hold him to his mother's contract with Xiana Elriya.

Xiana was a wellborn Fae, and she did not deserve to lose any honor because her betrothed was a fool. Many men were, and it was of no consequence to politics to allow them their leisure. They were there for a purpose, and that was a purpose they served well. With fortune, there would be another daughter, and this child would need never enter the halls of the dark families. She would never need to know the tiers of the houses, nor the way to address each Lady of the court. The Dark Fae were not named such by appearance, and she would set a horrible precedent to their allies should she walk the halls of those with rightful blood. There was pride in being what they were, and dalliances of this nature would not be allowed to cause it harm.

No, they would make certain this was never a cause for cringing in the future. Careful precautions were already being laid, and while it was dangerous for the child, it was no more so than it ever was to be of that kind of people. The demons were a wild sort, cruel, primal, feral even, and as they would not have her here, then the child would have to be raised there. It was the proper way, if nothing else proper could be done, for the girl to be raised by her mother.

There was hope that the girl learned honor should there be cause for her to ever, indeed, be needed to walk these halls and retrace the steps of her ancestors. Should she return to them, then it would be so that she would need a sponsor, someone to teach her what it was to be a lady. There needed to be someone to deal with any habits that might have arisen in her mother's line, things that she was not to do. She was as they were, in a few ways, by her ability to change though little more. The Dark Fae had a graceful side and one of beauty. The girl had a third, that to which she had been born, and it was infinitely ugly, with her scaled body and sharpened nails. Perhaps, with maturity, the ugliness would fade. It would be best to not ever see it, nor have need to know if there was anything of beauty in the child at all.

Setting the plans in place for the possibility of return even as they tried their best to ensure they would never come to pass, the girl was returned to her father. He was told to take her to his Shemaria, his demon mistress, and that he was to return alone. He could visit them if he felt he must, but the woman would raise the girl and he would be bought to heel as a proper, respectable husband. With fortune be put behind them and he would decide it to be in the best interest of al to stay away and not give the girl ideas of what might be, or what was.

These times were no place such a mistake to come to pass, for even if they had been so inclined to keep the child for her bloodlines, to train her to be as she could be within the security of their people, it was not to be done. There was something in the air, violent and dark, frenzied, and there was a dread certainty that the whispers of the wind held naught but ill towards those of that child's mother blood.

So away with her, and so she was cast back to the demons. They would get her away from them for their safety, and she would not return before it was time, given, of course, she should return at all. The High Dark Fae would have no part in the darkness that was coming, that cloying scent of the breeze that spoke of magic and greed, power and viciousness.

A child was little cost at all in the face of this higher cause, and that the loss was of one that had already been unwanted really made it much simpler.
